Board of director approval for the plan was granted 10 months after the start of the project.
2. International acquisitions: Nick played a critical role in the merger with the firm’s largest competitor, tripling the size of the firm. He was also involved in another smaller international acquisition.
3. Information Systems Database Design: Nick led a development team creating the conceptual business database for the future of a medical insurance carrier. The team reviewed the core business processes and required new business competencies and then developed a working flexible claim adjudication prototype using leading edge development tools. We demonstrated the new prototype process for the board of directors to rave reviews. The entire team was recognized with “Outstanding Contribution” awards from senior management.
4. Internal Controls review for Fortune 1000 organization: Simplified a comprehensive internal control review for a public Fortune 1000 manufacturer across 35 divisions of the company as a prelude to a Sarbanes- Oxley Rule 404 implementation using a database he designed. As a follow-up he worked on the same database to allow the internal audit team to effectively audit implementation of “Best Practice” internal controls across all their divisions.
5. Critical need Working Capital report: Developed an ad-hoc emergency management exception report for a public Fortune 1000 manufacturer covering over 500 projects that the company was involved in. The report was used to effectively control cash flow during a critical juncture for the company.
6. Internal Audit discovery of FAR and TINA violations: Discovered a major violation of the Federal Acquisition Requirements (FAR) and the Truth in Negotiations Act (TINA) while a member of an internal audit team for a multi-billion $ manufacturer. The fact that the violation was discovered by internal resources put the company in a good position of negotiation with the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) when they voluntarily revealed the systemic violations.
